||2 of 3 people found the following review helpful.| Not much here.|By wyodog|The book arrived quickly and in great condition, but Mr. Leon's diary is not on par with so many other Civil War veterans diaries. It is short and could have given so much more info., especially his time as a P.O.W. in a Union prison towards the end of the war and As a Jewish Confederate soldier.

Louis Leon, a Jewish Southerner from Charlotte, North Carolina, kept and later published a diary of his experiences fighting for the Confederate army during the War Between the States. Louis first joined the "Charlotte Grays," Company C of the first North Carolina Regiment, and began his tour of duty on 21 May 1861 in Richmond, Virginia, one day after North Carolina seceded from the Union.
